History

The DTAA was incorporated in 1994 as the Dance Therapy Association of Australia, following many years as a sub-committee of the AADE (Australian Association for Dance Education, now Ausdance) Victoria. The Development of Dance Therapy Practice in Victoria: The Status Quo and the Future, 

In 2012, the DTAA changed its name to the Dance Movement Therapy Association of Australia and in 2014, members agreed to change the DTAA’s name and scope to the Dance Movement Therapy Association of Australasia to include members practising in neighbouring countries in the Australasia region.

The management group became a Board on adoption of a constitution at the AGM in 2018, since updated in 2023. 

Many members have served on the DTAA’s Boards and Committees since 1994. Here is a list of all past Presidents:
