The following list offers some information verified by the DTAA.
Apartments are great for people who want to share to save costs, but places like Georgian Court and Magnolia Boutique Hotel, both B and Bs, are better for some individuals visiting Melbourne, as they are perfectly placed for sightseeing, post or pre conference.
Quest Apartments Abbotsford

Offers first class accommodation. Delegates can walk to the conference venue, the Convent along the Yarra river bank. Each room has lounge and kitchen areas. All king sized beds convert to singles on request. Cost for a 2 or a 4 person (connecting two areas) not too bad. Either $171 for 2, or $313 for 4, so $85.5 per each for 2 people, and $78.25 for 4 per night. Singles have to pay the price for 2 ($171), and 3 have to pay the price for 4 ($313) so it is really expensive for a single. This could be a good option for gathering people to walk together – or go for a meal together. It does have a small waiting/lounge area, many apartments don’t.
East Melbourne – there are lots of places –apartments and B and B’s - conveniently placed between the city centre and Abbotsford Convent.

Adara Apartments

Close to the Hoddle Street, Victoria Street. intersection. Could walk to Convent in 20 – 30 minutes, and on to the river walk at Gipps Street. Apartments, probably 3+to 4 star –are quite nice. Kitchen and lounge seating area. If people call directly they can have a special deal. Each superior room is for 2. 1 king and 1 single bed. The king beds split in only 2 apartments in the superior price bracket.
Cost $150 per 2 people, extra $30 for a third (sofa bed). So for 1 = $150, for 2 = $75 and for 3 = $60 per night. If booked early could get better deal. No small waiting/lounge area, but has a reception.

Both Georgian Court and Magnolia Court are reasonably priced and in a lovely part of Melbourne. Perfect area to stay for visitors but just a bit more difficult to get to Abbotsford Convent – although probably only an extra 6 mins or so walk on from the apartments mentioned.

The Nunnery
