DMT Experience
Clare's most recent mahi has focused on neurotypical tamariki/children, and neurodivergent tamariki/children and rangatahi/adolescents in both clinical groups and individually.

She contracts to Mauri Tui Tuia Creative Therapies, co-facilitating trauma informed, psycho-education programmes in Early Learning Centes and Kura/schools. This mahi shares how music and movement can support well-being and calm connection through awareness of neurobiological safety, co-regulation and tools to foster calm connection with neurodivergent students.

She contracts to DTNZ, co-facilitating a closed yoga/dance movement therapy group programme for ACC sensitive claims.

She also offers restorative movement and well-being retreats, Yoga and movement groups and individual DMT sessions for adults.

Description

Clare is a neurodivergent practitioner whose practice is multimodal, trauma-sensitive, strength based, playful and client centred. Clare is a registered Dance Movement Therapist, Yoga teacher, Early Childhood Educator, Educational Professional Development facilitator, Mother and Grandma. She is fascinated by non-verbal communication and how the body holds memories, wisdom, and emotion. Over the years, she has found joy and solace in movement practices which draw on somatic wisdom and the ability to be body-full and mindful.
Having studied at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, she continued to study Dance and Movement at Surrey University, (Roehampton Institute) and the Laban Centre in the UK. This love of somatic movement led to further study in Yoga, Somatics, and Dance Movement Therapy.
Clare has been teaching yoga and somatic movement in a variety of settings since 2010. She facilitates clinical groups for DTNZ, and works for Maui Tui Tuia Creative Therapies, as well as having her own private practice. Clare continues to seek out opportunities to study and learn from experienced therapists, teachers and movement practitioners.
