Mariangela is a former dancer and designer, and an MA Dance Movement Therapist qualified by the Laban Centre, London. Her clinical work is underpinned by a variety of academic and experiential body movement studies. She has worked with older people, in residential and community settings, and more recently with adults in the UK National Health System. She is currently working towards a qualification as a movement analyst (Kestenberg Movement Profile), and training as a Group Psychotherapist (Goldsmiths College, University of London).

…”Dance Movement Therapy (DMT), although still not widely known in Psychiatric Day Care settings in the UK, is a growing discipline reaching for new opportunities within the National Health System (NHS). This article discusses it’s inclusion within a multi-disciplinary team in this setting. The focus is placed on the idea of a ‘potential space’ to be explored – in the interface between client and institution – where aspects of body image betray shared unconscious feelings and beliefs. Through in-depth Movement Analysis, environmental and clinical issues are examined.
