This brief overview of of Wilhelm Reich (1897 – 1957) touches on his contributions to the fields of dance movement therapy, psychotherapy and somatic therapies. He was a primary pioneer in the field of body based psychotherapy. He intended to link scientific, theoretical and therapeutic work to the wider social, political and cultural context he was located within, with his work ranging through medicine, psychiatry, biology, physics, sociology and education.
